As a naturalista that subscribes to the co-washing method, having a conditioner that not only moisturizes but also has the proper consistency to help cleanse and aid in defining my curlz is essential to my hair care regimen. Over the past few weeks, I tried a few new conditioners that I really didn’t care for, which made me fall deeper in love with my go-to’s that have proved themselves faithful over the years. So, I thought I’d share my top 5 co-wash conditioners with all of you.
Let me preface this by saying, for me, a good conditioner to use for my co-wash process has the following qualities:
- Inexpensive – I use A LOT of conditioner, almost a full palm-sized dollop or more each wash, so if it costs more that about $8 for a big bottle, I can’t mess with it.
- Large size – I can’t be running to the store every two weeks for new product, so I generally like my conditioners to come in 20oz or more bottles.
- Slip, slip, and more slip – A slippery consistency is essential for detangling, being able to massage my scalp to help cleanse, and being able to rake through my hair in the shower to define my curlz.
- Moisturizing – It has to add moisture.
Here are my top 5 co-wash conditioners in no particular order, which can be easily found in most stores.
