The thing I love most about natural hair is that no two curls are alike. Last week I really got to appreciate the magic that is the versatility of black hair at Curlfest, an annual celebration of all types of curls, hosted by Curly Girl Collective in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park.
I enjoyed the festivities with my good friend Lindsey, co-founder and editor-in-chief of a brand-new magazine that’s all about natural girls and celebrating our hair story, called CRWN. Me and Lindsey’s curls couldn’t be more different, but as we roamed among the thousands of curly girls and curl admirers at Curlfest, we relished in that which makes us so beautifully similar and different at the same time.
I also got to link up with my fellow blogger boo Tima Samad. I love how we both have a short, tapered, red natural cut, but we both rock it our own unique way.
I was even snapped for a feature on Allure.com showcasing all the curly goodness Curlfest had to offer.
