When I was younger, my parents used to always tell me to use my words to express myself. They’re not often wrong, but in this instance, sorry Mom and Dad.
The other week something launched that might just be the best thing since curl definer creams. The new Dove Hair #LoveYourCurls emoji keyboard.
When the brand asked me to partner with them to help spread the word, of course I said yes. Dove is no stranger to inspiring and empowering campaigns for women of all shapes, sizes and color. But this Dove Hair campaign – which encourages women to celebrate, love and take pride in their curly hair – takes the cake as far as I’m concerned.
The majority of us women and girls agree that we can better express what we want to say with emojis than with words — 67% to be exact (see Mom!), according to research conducted by Dove Hair. And while sure emojis have evolved over time to include a broader palate of skin tones, curly girls like me were still left out of the mix.
But, now, gone are the days of having to use straight hair emojis or resigning myself to those bald headed yellow circles. I finally have something that represents me in all my curly, natural haired glory!
The Dove Hair #LoveYourCurls keyboard includes 131 curly hair image variations, including seven animated GIFs. It’s been easy to use on my iPhone and I’ve had so much fun with it the past week or so since it launched.
