Shopping for beauty products as a woman of color can take you on some highs and some lows. While there are more products and brands that cater to our unique beauty needs these days – from makeup to hair products and more – often times we still have to run from one end of the city to the next to find everything we need.
Well, lawyer-turned-beauty entrepreneur Desiree Verdejo just made beauty shopping that much easier with her new Harlem-based boutique, Vivrant Beauty. The other night, I had the pleasure of attending the launch of this new beauty shop.
Vivrant Beauty owner Desiree really did an amazing job with her premier footprint in the beauty space. First off, how gorgeous is she?! Who wouldn’t take beauty advice from someone this flawless.
And she has really curated a great roster of brands for women of all colors at Vivrant Beauty – from Oyin and Eden Bodyworks to Becca and Butter. And many of the brands are woman-owned or independent, which is a big plus for me.
Plus the sun-drenched Vivrant Beauty space is just lovely, with hues of white and light blue that are so welcoming and even a little retreat like.
I discovered a new line of nail lauquer at the launch that I’m just crazy about called Mischo Beauty (a black woman owned line). And while the nail artist that did my nails at the event is not permanently based at Vivrant, she owns a luxury nail studio called Bed of Nails right up the street on 134th and Adam Clayton Powell in Harlem. Another black woman-owned business to support in the neighborhood!
If you’re not based in NYC, not to worry. You can still shop with Vivrant Beauty from around the country with their online boutique as well. And if you are in NYC, head on over to 220 St. Nicholas Ave. in Harlem and support this great new addition to the city.
