There was once a time when I despised lace. It always reminded me of old ladies or those itchy childhood church outfits that no little girl really wanted to wear. But lace has come a long, long way over the past several years, with modern lace ensembles appearing everywhere from high-fashion runways to the style savvy streets of NYC.
The other week, my hometown friend and photographer Randy of Edizon Flix came to NYC for visit, so we decided to head to Brooklyn for a rooftop shoot with a view. It was the perfect opportunity for me to give this modern lace number a whirl (literally).
I scored this black lace skirt at a thrift store in L.A. a few years back for only $8! For our shoot, I decided to pair it with a 50’s swimsuit cut body suit I picked up American Apparel. A few accessories and Sarah Jessica Parker Collection green ‘Lady’ pumps (sold out) completed the modern and sultry yet lady-like lace look I was going for.
