Can we all just take a moment of silence for my dress. I bought this beauty from my favorite vintage boutique, Jewels Vintage Closet. From the moment I laid eyes on her, I had visions of what I was going to pair her with and the events she’d attend catching the attention of everyone in the room.
After I received her in the mail, I took her to the cleaners for a little TLC and tapering. Unfortunately, little did I know at the time, before I would even have the chance to wear her in public, it would be her last time caressing this body—complementing my curves with her perfectly cinched waist and her hues of black and white.
The cleaners ruined it. Fading the dress and bleeding the colors to the point that trying to salvage her wouldn’t even do this work of art justice. I couldn’t even bear to take her home to give her a proper memorial…holding her limp material in my hands at the cleaners and witnessing the extent of her injuries was enough to nearly make my knees give out. She’s irreplaceable and wasn’t even given the opportunity to live out her best years.
So I take this moment to pay respects to Black and White Bella. May the force be with you. And if you have a twin at any of the NYC consignment or vintage stores, please tell them to send me telepathic messages that they’re ready to be adopted by a woman who will love them for eternity.
