If there’s one thing that livens up a woman’s face and helps her look more refreshed than anything else, it’s a well-shaped set of eyebrows. I’m pretty particular about my own…making sure my eyebrows are shaped and defined at all times.
My secret for a great pair starts with getting them professionally shaped using a method called threading. I’ve sworn by threading for over a decade now. This ancient method of hair removal started in India and has been growing in popularity over in The States lately. The technique involves pulling hair, one by one, from the follicles using a piece of thread.
The other day, I was invited to check out a beauty studio in the SoHo area of New York that specializes in eyebrow threading called browhaus. And, Finally!! After 4 years of searching for a good threading studio in NYC, I found it in browhaus!
Read on for more about the benefits of threading.
Here are a few reasons you should try eyebrow threading if you haven’t already:
- It’s so precise. Because the hairs are removed one-by-one, you can get the exact shape you’re looking for with little risk of over shaping.
- It’s virtually painless. The hair is pulled so quickly, you barely even feel anything. Much better on the pain meter than waxing.
- For most women, the results last around 3-4 weeks. That’s the duration that professional threaders recommend most people wait between threading treatments.
- Less likely to irritate your skin than waxing. Threading removes only the hairs you don’t want and nothing else. No pulling on the skin. And no hot wax near your eyes.
I typically get my eyebrows threaded once a quarter and then maintain them myself in between with some light tweezing on a weekly basis when new hairs sprout. I also fill them in lightly with a brow pencil daily to get the perfect finish and full shape.
DEAL ALERT: If you’re in New York and want to try threading out for yourself, browhaus is offering 5 people a chance to get 50% off of brow threading services (which retails for $27). All you have to do is snap a selfie of your eyebrow game and post it on Instagram tagging @browhausnyc. browhaus will select and announce winners on Friday, September 25, 2015. May the best brows win!*
